Terms of Service

Applies to all Watson Consulting HVAC apps — HVAC Load Calculator, Heat Pump Sizing Canada, Static Pressure & Duct Check, and A2L Safe Charge — and to this website.

The short version: These apps are professional estimating aids. They help you size and check HVAC systems, but they do not replace a licensed professional, local code, or manufacturer data. Subscriptions are billed and refunded by Apple or Google under their store policies.

Agreement to terms

By downloading, installing, or using any of these apps (“the App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App.

Description of service

The apps provide residential heating and cooling load calculations based on ACCA Manual J methodology or CSA F280-12 methodology, duct static pressure and airflow checks, refrigerant charging references, and related estimating tools. They are designed to assist HVAC professionals and homeowners in estimating equipment sizing and system performance.

Free allowance, trial & subscription

Apps that offer a paid tier include a limited free allowance so you can evaluate them before subscribing. In HVAC Load Calculator that allowance is currently 2 calculations and 2 PDF report shares per device. Beyond that allowance, continued use requires a Pro subscription:

  • Pro is an auto-renewing subscription purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and may include a free trial (currently 7 days) for new subscribers.
  • The price and billing period are shown in the store’s purchase sheet before you confirm. Payment is charged to your store account; the subscription renews automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • You can manage or cancel the subscription anytime in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Canceling stops future renewals, and access continues through the period already paid.
  • If a trial converts, the subscription price is charged at the end of the trial unless canceled first. Used or unused free allowance does not carry into or restore after a subscription.

Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their store policies.

Disclaimer of warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. We do not warrant that:

  • The calculations will be error-free or accurate for all situations
  • The App will meet your specific requirements
  • The App will be uninterrupted or available at all times

Professional disclaimer

The calculations provided by the App are estimates based on the information you enter. They are intended as a starting point for HVAC system design and should not replace:

  • Professional engineering assessments
  • Detailed Manual J or CSA F280-12 calculations by certified professionals
  • Local building code requirements
  • Manufacturer specifications and recommendations

Always consult with a licensed HVAC professional before making equipment purchasing decisions.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

  • Incorrect equipment sizing based on App calculations
  • Financial losses from equipment purchases
  • Property damage or personal injury
  • Loss of data or business interruption

User responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate information when using the App
  • Use the App only for lawful purposes
  • Not attempt to reverse engineer or modify the App
  • Not resell, redistribute, or provide the App itself as a service to third parties

Using the App in your own trade or business — estimating jobs, producing reports for your customers — is exactly what it is for and requires no separate license.

Intellectual property

All content, features, and functionality of the App are owned by us and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Manual J, Manual S, Manual D, and ACCA are trademarks of the Air Conditioning Contractors of America. CSA is a trademark of the Canadian Standards Association. These apps are independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by ACCA or CSA Group.

Changes to terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. The current version is always posted on this page with a “Last updated” date.

Governing law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
